You Don't Want to Miss This!

The Christmas story is the most remarkable story of a perfect Savior coming to rescue an undeserving, unappreciative world. But one of the things that makes Christmas so remarkable is that it is just the beginning of what happened next.

When we only focus on Christmas and Easter, we don't get a full picture of Jesus. If we just see the birth, death and resurrection of Christ, we miss the weight of the total story of His life. We miss Him healing the sick, challenging the self-righteous, and offering grace to sinners. We miss seeing Him perform miracles as simply as you and I breathe. We miss Him overcoming the toughest temptation, calling the most unlikely followers, teaching others how to follow in His footsteps, feeding 5,000 hungry people, walking on water, and confounding the wisdom of kings. If you don't read on, you miss John the Baptist, Martha and Mary, the woman caught in adultery, Peter, Pilate, and Nicodemus. We miss His commands to not be anxious, be peacemakers, stand for what is right, and be ready for His return.

Over the next several weeks leading up to Easter, we will be looking at the life of Christ between Christmas and the Cross. My hope and prayer is that the full story of Christ comes alive for us all this year in ways that it never has before.

One practical way to participate:
Remember that at the bottom of these emails I prep you with the Scripture for the week. Take ten minutes a couple days in the week before and read the texts, plus the ones just before and just after as well. It will prepare your heart for what we do as a community as we are engrossed in this great and true story.

See you Sunday as we prepare for our journey from Christmas to Easter, from the manger to the cross.
